Someone famous once claimed there “ain’t” no cure for the summertime blues, but there is a cure for distracted driving. Summer is a time when there are more autos on the road and distractions are always present. Did you know more than 3,300 people die and 300,000 injured each year in crashes related to distracted driving? Distracted driving includes:
- Eating and drinking
- Looking for stuff on the floor or turning around to deal with small children
- Using GPS or SatNav
- Talking or texting on their smartphones!
From the USAA Educational Foundation, anytime you are behind the wheel, but not focused on the road in front of you, you are putting your safety at risk. Please take a look at this terrific video that will remind us all of the risk we take when we divert our eyes and ears from the road ahead.
